We’ve already been treated to the likes of Spider-Man, X-Men and The Hulk. The Avengers brought together some of our favourite heroes and, understandably, the two films starring Captain America, Iron-Man, Thor and co did rather well. So, when a lesser known hero, Ant-Man, was given his own film, it was interesting to see how the adventure would hold up at the box office. As it turns out, rather well. The plot? Forced out of his own company by former protégé Darren Cross, Dr Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas, seeks the talents of master thief Scott Lang, freshly released from prison. Lang is played by comedy actor Paul Rudd. When it was first announced he would be portraying the character, more than a few eyebrows were raised. It transpires he was a superb choice. Ant-Man (12) DVD: RRP £11.99 Rudd’s portrayal of Lang becoming Ant-Man, as trained by Pym, sees him armed with a suit that allows him to shrink in size, possess superhuman strength and control an army of ants. The diminutive hero must apply his new skills to prevent Cross, akaYellowjacket, fromperfecting similar technology to use it for evil. Great fun for all.
