Shuttle service for Newport Show

Author | 06 July 2017

A free service to transport people to and from this year’s Newport Show will operate for the first time this year.

Organisers have laid on a 16-seater shuttle bus that will run from Newport’s bus terminal off Stafford Street, at the rear of B & M, to the pedestrian entrance at the Chetwynd Deer Park on July 8.

The first journey will leave the bus station for the showground at 11am and then operate on the hour until 5pm. The return journeys from the pedestrian entrance at the showground start at 11.30am and will run on the half hour with the final service at 5.30pm.

The service will be operated by Crusade Travel and will be clearly marked as the show shuttle bus.

Show manager Clare Farrell said the new service would be an additional way for visitors to head to the show.

“We already have a vast parking area for people who want to drive and we operate ‘park and stroll’ at the rugby club, which is the quickest way to get on site.

“The shuttle service is a great option for people who live in the town and don’t want to drive, offering an easy way to get into the show.”

Entertainment at the show this year includes two main ring performances from world famous bagpipers, The Red Hot Chilli Pipers. The show’s main ring will be opened up for the first time to enable people to get close to the specially constructed stage.

This year’s Festival of Food features guest star Candice Brown, the winner of last year’s Great British Bake Off, workshops, and a Street Food market.

There are also demonstrations by the UK's first and number one mountain bike tricks, stunts and skills display team, Team M.A.D (Mountain Bike Aerial Display), vintage vehicle and machinery displays, craft and antique stalls, family activities and a funfair alongside the 600 plus livestock, horse, dog, horticulture and handicraft classes.
