The Weston Park Foundation is inviting schools in Shropshire and Staffordshire to enter budding young artists’ works into this exciting competition, with the opportunity for those shortlisted to be shown in the stately home’s prestigious Granary Art Gallery – which is open daily free of charge - throughout the month of December.
Themes this year are inspired by Weston Park’s involvement in the James Paine 300 celebrations in 2017 and the Woodland Trust’s Charter Mark. Children in primary and secondary education are tasked with creating artworks on the theme of either ‘Architecture and Buildings’ or ‘Trees’ to be in with the opportunity to win a cash prize for their school as well as art materials for themselves.
The competition welcomes paintings, photography, printmaking, drawing and sculpture to name a few of the different media that is being encouraged.
Gareth Williams, Curator and Head of Learning to the Weston Park Foundation has said “We’re thrilled that Halls’ generous support has enabled us to once again offer this competition which not only gives an opportunity for the artists of the future but also provides a chance for schools to win a valuable prize and, at the same time, creates a visually exciting exhibition that our visitors much enjoy seeing.”
