Newport man and Ex-Royal Air Force Airman Pete Berridge has taken on the challenge of a lifetime. His self funded challenge, the Tour of Nilgiris takes place in India and will see him cycling 600 miles over 7 days through Southern India’s Nilgiris Mountain Range.
To further push the stamina of riders, each leg of this endurance tour has a Time-Trial event built in to determine the overall rider position. Pete has been cycling regularly for around 3 years, initially to lose weight and keep fit but is now hooked on the sport, regularly riding around 500+ miles each month in and around Shropshire. He has stepped up his training in preparation for this arduous event. Returning from the tour on the 26th December means Christmas celebrations will be delayed for wife Sue and daughter Abigail.
Pete is using the Tour to raise funds for Combat Stress, the veterans’ mental health charity, which has helped thousands of ex-service personnel for over 95 years. To date, Pete has raised in excess of £700, but would like to exceed that amount prior to the start of the Tour on the 16th of December 2014. If you would like to help Pete in raising funds for Combat Stress you can donate using his JustGiving site at the following web address; www.justgiving.com/peter-berridge-tour-of-nilgiris.
