Aiming to make a name for himself

Author | 06 February 2015

Newport darts-supremo David Pallett is starting to make a name for himself in the world of sport. Fresh from his first international appearance, All About Magazine caught up with a promising star of the future.

David was around six years old when he first picked up a set of darts. He started playing in a pub team when he was eight. Now, almost 25 years of age, and having experienced his first World Championship, what is next?

“The Tour starts now so my aim will be to have another good year and make the ‘worlds’ again,” says David. “First it’s the UK Open qualifiers, with top players making the televised finals from Butlins, Minehead”.

“The ‘worlds’ was the highlight of a fantastic year for me. Hopefully I’ve gained some valuable experience and will be back playing better next time.”

David has his eyes firmly on the future having recently gone part time leaving more time to practice, but won’t give up work until fully confident on earning a certain amount each year from the sport. “This will be my third year as a professional player,” says David.

“I’ve been sponsored By Excell Systems and Daren Kitchen who helped me become one of the world’s top 50 dart players. Daren was instrumental in me reaching my first world championships”.

“I’ve since joined Nevada Darts and Jon Archer. Jon manages professional players like myself and has had much experience within the PDC, It’s a great opportunity.” When asked what his ambition is, the answer is simple. “I would obviously love to call myself a World Champion one day, but that’s a long way off at the moment.”
