Newport will celebrate its traditional independent traders on a fun filled Saturday 6th July. The national Independents' Day - in fact a month of promotion and activity, will launch on Thursday 4th July, for obvious reasons to anyone who knows there history.
Independent traders, the backbone of most traditional market towns, will be promoting their value and quality as never before. Newport's traders offer everything one could ever need from food and drink, high quality interior furnishings, home design, jewelery, women's clothing across all ranges, cookware, health and beauty, bookshops, tea and coffee rooms, white goods, computers, print and graphics as well as specialist engravers, farm and DIY supplies, craft and sewing and of course the traditional Market, full of fresh food and individual traders.
On Newport's Independents' Day, the town will be buzzing with special promotions, free demonstrations by local traders, competitions and offers, face painting and much, much more. Plans are afoot for various shops to be offering discounts or one off incentives. There will be guided walks around the town, themed window displays and a very much red, white and blue celebration since it's also 60 years since the coronation.
So come and have a great day in town on Saturday 6th July, free parking and free fun, whilst supporting the backbone of England, its independent retailers. Buying your goods from them is sustaining the town and all its services. Buying from multinationals sends profits out of the area and weakens all the local goods and services we enjoy. So please use them, or we may loose them.
