Moorfield Primary School were delighted to win “Best Dressed Float” in Newport Carnival on Saturday.
The float had a Road Safety theme and the children had been working on the topic for several weeks beforehand.
This culminated in a Road Safety Themed Mufti Day two weeks before the carnival where the children made a great effort and school was full of Zebra Crossings, Traffic Lights, Lollipop Ladies and even a boy dressed as a speed camera!
Last week, the school courtyard was transformed into a Carnival Workshop, with children and volunteer parents painting the zebra crossing, road signs and preparing other material for the float.
Claire Rees, KS1 Manager said “We are delighted to have won the prizes in the carnival. The children were very excited and made such an effort with their costumes and preparing the material for the float, they really did us proud.”
