It’s never too late to learn...just ask 50-year-old Robert Burke, whose community education experience at Telford College of Arts and Technology has been a truly life-changing experience.
Robert, from Newport, initially enrolled at TCAT in 2014 for a short drawing and painting course, held at the town’s Cosy Hall.
He enjoyed it so much that he signed up for another community course earlier this year – and has now been accepted for full time foundation degree in art and design studies by the University of Wolverhampton.
Robert, who will be studying for his degree at Telford College, said “I would advise anybody who is thinking of doing a TCAT course, whether it is community, full or part-time based to ‘just give it a go’ as you never know where it may lead.”
Rob added: “I found myself motivated and enthusiastic again; even to the point after where I enrolled and completed another couple more short local drawing and painting classes before deciding to apply full time for a foundation degree in art and design.
TCAT tutor Caroline Ali said: “Robert is a motivated student who made the most of all the opportunities that the TCAT Community Education courses offer. “I am sure that Robert will go from strength to strength as he continues to progress towards higher levels of achievement.”
