Newport Photographic Club, established in 1984, is open to anyone interested in photography and aims to encourage and develop the photographic skills of its members.
We meet at the Baptist Church hall in Water Lane, Newport, Shropshire at 7.45pm every Tuesday evening from September to June.
At present we have about 80 members from the Telford & Wrekin area and the surrounding villages. We cater for all levels of expertise from absolute beginner to experienced enthusiast.
There is a full programme of visiting speakers, workshops & practical evenings, competitions, social evenings and other events. The current programme and samples of our members’ work are available on our website; www.newportphotoclub.com
As well as our formal program we encourage our members to expand their photographic skills with Peer Review Groups and a Mentoring Programme.
The Mentoring Programme aims to team up those who want to take their photography a bit further, with one of the more experienced club members who can help with technical and photographic techniques. The Peer Review Groups allow members to get informal comments and suggestions about their pictures from other members of the club by passing their prints round the other group members for constructive comment.
The club takes a full part in supporting the local community with photographic displays and exhibitions. New members are always welcome; just come along on a Tuesday evening – or contact Ellie Rushton ellier@uwclub.net or 01630 661336.
