Over 400 Adams’ Grammar School pupils performed to a sell out crowd of parents, friends, staff members and fellow students on Tuesday, 1st March at the annual House Music Competition.
This is a huge event and, for many, the highlight of the school calendar as the talent and quality of performances every year seem to surpass all expectations.
The competition, which is fiercely contested between the four school Houses, included performances from a wide musical spectrum with solo instruments and vocal items, instrumental ensembles and choral classes (both set piece and free choice) as well as a brand new Band category and Chamber Music class, all reflecting the diversity of the music that is performed at Adams’. Student after student stepped into the spotlight and performed with intensity and passion, leaving the audience full of admiration.
The winner of this year’s competition was announced to a hushed auditorium which quickly turned to cheers and huge applause as members of Webb House were called on stage to accept the cup.
“Webb was the first House to win the House Music cup when the competition was launched back in 2005 but sadly has never won it since, so 2016 is a very special year for us” adds Hamish Inglis, Music Captain for Webb House. “I am very proud of everyone in Webb for working so hard to make this happen.”
