Help Jo Beat MS

An Inspiring Local Lady

Author | 23 March 2016

I am aiming to raise funds for an amazing lady and incredible friend. Jo has Multiple Sclerosis and which for those of you who don’t know is an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks and destroys Myelin which protects the nerve fibres in the central nervous system. As a result the brain cannot effectively communicate with the body.

Jo now has to use crutches or her wheelchair constantly but never complains. She goes to work every day and is raising two children all by herself. Despite all of Jo’s issues she has always remained positive and continues to put other first.

There has been no alternative treatment for some time however through research Jo now has hope again. We have found a treatment for Jo – Special Activated Autologous Mesenchymal Stromal Fraction Cells Treatment. This is a scientifically demonstrated and confirmed treatment for not only stopping MS in its tracks but also reversing the damage it has already caused too.

Jo’s own stem cells will be harvested, enriched with growth, cytokines and other cell’s active factors, mixed with plasma prepared from Jo’s venous blood then reintroduced to help rejuvenate her immune system.

What this means is huge for Jo, she will be able to go back to walking unaided and allow her to enjoy life again with her family and friends. It will allow her to do all the things in life that you and I may take for granted – going shopping, travelling, taking her youngest son to football and for walks and I know it will ease the agonising trip up two flights of stairs at work every day.

The only problem we do have is that this treatment is still many years away from being offered as a treatment in the UK however we have found a reputable medical facility in Moscow where Jo has been approved for this treatment. There is no funding however and the total cost of this life changing treatment, travel and aftercare will be upwards of £30,000.

I will not accept that Jo is destined to deteriorate when I know this option is out there for her so I am asking for your help. Anything you’re able to give will be massively appreciated and it will mean so much to Jo and her lovely family. All her friends and family will be fundraising alongside, doing whatever we can to give Jo her life back. Donations can be pledged at Help Jo Beat MS.
