Newport's popular Cornish Pasty shop is preparing to celebrate 5 years of trading. Friday 15th April will be a special day at the Gourmet Pasty Co.
The business took over the premises at 26 St Mary St, formerly known as Harper's Bar on 1st March 2011. After much renovation and refurbishment the café opened its doors for business on April 15th 2011. The official opening was carried out by the town mayor Roy Scammel.
Over the years the café has built up a good reputation and a loyal base of regular customers including the towns Nova Raiders cycle club making it feel like a large family. It boasts a large menu and is now know not just for its Cornish pasties and great coffee, the gourmet pasty co serves homemade cake, scones and a range of toasties, wrap and daily specials.
Leon, from the café, said: "Many people think we are part of a chain but we are an independent business and started from scratch so I am very pleased and proud to be trading in Newport.
