After a very busy month in March, April was far less frenetic regarding fund raising inasmuch as we still had the Monthly Table Top Sale and Afternoon Tea dances taking place, with our Annual Charter Dinner taking place towards the end of the month.
As usual we did not adopt the usual format of Lions Charter Dinner’s as organised by other Lions Club’s locally with ours taking the form of a Medieval Lunch at the Moat House in Acton Trussell, with the vast majority of the guests dressing accordingly for the event as can be seen by the photographs. Thanks must go to the members who organised it, namely the village Friar, John Ison, and Ladies in Waiting, Patricia Hunt, Janice Bleasdale and Doreen Chell.
The afternoon culminated with 10 year Chevrons being awarded to John Ison and Ann Meadon by our the president Pam Talbot’s principal guest , Carole Godden, the Immediatet Past District Governor. All in all it was a fabulous afternoon , under the stewardship of our Master of Ceremonies, Stuart Powell with good food, good company and amazing entertainment by the Jester from Warwick Castle, Dave Moylan.
Coming up shortly we have our Annual Golf Day, but I must apologise as the date shown as reported last month has had to be changed and has been brought forward 7 days to Thursday 9th June, still at the Aqualate Golf Club with an entry fee of only £19.00 and as usual with an array of prizes to be won. Entry as usual includes coffee and bacon Butties after 9 holes.
Interested, wishing to enter then please call Rick talbot on 01785 823177 for further details or to enter, with all proceeds going to local good causes.
Finally as you can see we know how to enjoy ourselves and are looking to increase our membership so why not phone Pat Hunt on 01785 780032.
