Telford & Wrekin Council is holding a recruitment drive in Newport for potential foster carers.
Visitors to Newport's Guildhall on Tuesday 19 July between 6pm and 8pm will have the chance to speak to fostering staff from Telford & Wrekin Council and an experienced foster carer.
Councillor Paul Watling, cabinet member for Children, Young People and Communities, said: "This is a great opportunity to find out what it is really like to be a foster carer and learn of the achievements possible through doing something so rewarding".
"We are looking for people to care for children not just in the short-term, but in the long-term too; seeing them into adulthood. We need foster carers who can look after children with challenging behaviour and we want to be able to place children and young people with foster families that can meet their needs and without being split up from their brothers and sisters".
Requirements to be a Foster Carer are:
• You must be aged 21 or over
• Must have experience of dealing with children; either through parenthood or through paid or voluntary work
• Must have at least one spare bedroom
• Must be caring and understanding
• Must be adaptable and willing to work in the best interests of the child
