Free basic life support courses are now being run in Newport’s Cosey Hall on Water Lane. As part of the course, nurse Julie Rich will be demonstrating how to use a defibrillator (defib).
A briefcase-sized box that can deliver an electrical shock to someone whose heart has stopped pumping blood around their body. No exam is required to operate a defib, but with a small amount of training, you will gain confidence and understanding of its use, maintenance and learn not to be scared of it.
Many of these life-saving units are now to be found in Newport, outside buildings on the High Street, at the Newport swimming pool and on the grounds of Adams’ Grammar School and Burton Borough School.
The courses are free to attend and based at Cosey Hall from 12 noon - 2.30pm on Friday 9 September and Saturday 17 September. Julie can be contacted regarding these courses on 01952 820625.
