Newport Motorcycle Sensation

A teenage motorcyclist from Newport flagged as the next Valentino Rossi is set to make his mark on the track next season, thanks to a sponsorship deal with a firm of town financial advisors.

Sixteen-year-old Harry Rowlings is being supported by Robert Nicholas Financial Advisers as he aims to progress his racing career.

The firm, which is based in Harry’s home town of Newport, have donated £400 towards his expenses as he bids to turn his hobby into a dream career.

Harry, a former Burton Borough student who is currently undertaking an apprenticeship at HCI Systems as a wiring harness technician, began his racing career at just 10-year-old.

He started out on mini motorbikes and is now competing in the EDIasia (CORR) 400 Championship around tracks such as Brands Hatch and Oulton Park.

The teenager was runner up in the National Junior Cup in 2015 and said he would love to turn professional if he could raise the funding.

“I am passionate about motorbike racing and would love to make it a full time career one day,” he said. “But it’s an expensive past time and the costs mount up with maintenance on the bike, travel, entry fees and tyres.

“Sponsorship like that from Robert Nicholas goes a long way towards helping with that. I am very grateful for their support and I am determined to do well this season and bring some silverware back to Shropshire to thank them.”

Robert Nicholas Director Rob Henn said they had been delighted to get behind one of the town’s brightest young sporting hopes.

“We found about Harry’s success on the track and how he has been flying the flag for Newport and Shropshire so we were more than happy to support a local lad showing so much potential on the track.

“I saw him race at Oulton Park and will be following this progress with interest over the next year.”

Harry has launched a campaign called #team46 to drum up further support from local businesses in his community to help his goal of working towards professional racing.
