Around 20 leading retailers in Newport’s town centre are offering shoppers huge discounts on everything from ladies fashion and cookware to household goods, gifts and cards this coming ‘Black Friday’.
The event takes place on Friday 25 November marks, the Friday following thanksgiving in the USA, and is an integral part of Newport’s ongoing shop local campaign which encourages residents and visitors to check out the great choice, value and quality of goods available in the town.
Outlets such as Appleby & Shaw, Cookshop (Newport), Toggs & Clogs and Nova Cycles are all involved, offering great deals as well as the usual high standards of customer service. Shoppers looking for a bargain are asked to keep a look out because in addition to the usual posters participating shops may be identified by a display of black balloons on their door or in their windows.
Town Team Manager Mike Atherton said “Black Friday promises to be a great day for local shoppers. We have had a tremendous response from traders who are keen to get involved and create a real buzz in the town. This is the first of a series of promotional events in the lead up to Christmas with retailers showcasing all that is good about market towns like Newport”.
“There will be plenty on offer for Christmas shoppers looking for something special, and there will be a few surprises too with Matthews Family Butchers, Tyler’s Electrical and Newport Beds joining in the fun. It promises to be a great day for shoppers and hopefully a good one for traders too” continued Mike Atherton.
