Nova FM Radio Celebrates Galaxy Fund Donation

Author | 17 December 2013

Nova FM, based in Newport, Shropshire, is celebrating after receiving a £300 donation from the GALAXY Hot Chocolate Fund.

Nova FM is a not-for-profit radio station which has been running for almost two years. The station provides a community radio service designed to inform and entertain the local community through combining a diverse mix of music, local news, sports and information about local community events, services and good causes 24 hours a day. Liz Liebman, whose son presents the show, says: “Nova FM is important to Shropshire as it informs the community of current news and events and local information that a larger station would not cover. We aim to broadcast to everyone in the community but because we do not have an FM license we are only internet based. This means some residents who do not have access to the internet miss out on our broadcasts.

“This donation from the GALAXY Hot Chocolate Fund will help pay towards providing the equipment to be able to broadcast the show on FM as well, to attract people in the community that do not have access to the internet.” GALAXY Hot Chocolate is looking to help small, local community groups and charities across the UK and Ireland by donating cash awards to support warm hearted people and projects.

Open for entries until February 23 2014, the Fund will distribute five £300 awards to deserving recipients every week. Michelle Frost, spokeswoman for GALAXY Hot Chocolate said yesterday: “There are thousands of warm hearted people and organisations that go out of their way to help their local community day in day out.

“The GALAXY Hot Chocolate Fund aims to support their work and hopefully inspire more people to get involved with local community groups.” Applications to the fund can be made on the GALAXY Hot Chocolate website www.galaxyhotchocolate.com.
