Six Newport boys enjoyed a Premier League challenge, as they formed part of the Novo Soccer Academy under 12 team that faced the West Bromwich Albion Colts academy squad in a friendly played at the state of the art WBA training facility at Halfords Lane on Saturday.
Nova United players Jack Evans, David Jones, Josh Millhouse, David Nelson and Joe Papps, along with their former team mate Toby Pegge, who now represents Admaston Juniors, were part of a thirteen strong squad of local players, representing Novo Soccer Academy in this prestigious friendly. The squad also included Novo United goalkeeper, Joe Ord who lives in Albrighton.
The game was closely contested, and although defeated, the Novo side showed great resolve and determination in giving their skilful opponents a close and hard fought game, in an eleven a side match played over 90 minutes.
Novo Soccer Academy is a local venture, established by Declan Allen, with the intention of providing a structured football syllabus and development programme for children from age groups of Under 7 up to Under 12's, with training sessions held every Friday evening at TCAT in Wellington.
