Newport Fundraiser to run for Children's Charity

Author | 11 February 2014

A Newport man is set to run 45 miles this year and is fundraising for the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people. Graham Chilcott is taking on the 45 mile challenge for CLIC Sargent to celebrate his 45th birthday for. He has already completed Telford 10k will be taking part in Stafford half marathon and Manchester marathon.

Graham, who works as an electrical engineer at RAF Shawbury said: “I only really started running last year so getting up to the necessary distance in training has already been a challenge and I’ve had a few injuries to contend with but the amazing support I have had has been really motivating and I have so far raised over £1200 of my £2000 target.”

Newport businesses such as Norwood House, The Fox, The Aston and Waitrose have donated some fantastic prizes. Anyone who sponsors me at www.justgiving.com/Graham-Chilcott will have their name put into a monthly draw to win one of these prizes.

Graham is also running an auction until 2nd March on one of the prizes donated by Newport based outdoor events business Breese Adventures. The father of 3 said: “Because this is a specialist prize I have decided to run an auction rather than include it in the raffle.”

Tracey Ann Breese, Director of Breese Adventures said: “We are delighted to donate a day in the mountains of Snowdonia for 4 people with a qualified experienced mountain guide worth £250. “The highest bidder will be able to decide whether they want a challenge and take on one of the bigger mountains such as Snowdon, or your guide will take you on an adventure to some of the more 'off track' places.

Tracey added: “Anyone interested in bidding for the adventure can email Graham at grachilly@gmail.com or can contact us at Breese Adventures through our website www.breeseadventures.co.uk.”
