The Japseed Nissan 370Z driven by Boyzone’s Shane Lynch was on show at the ‘Ultimate Stance’ show in Telford during November. We designed and manufactured the Electrical Wiring System for this car and to ensure utmost reliability and safety which is paramount in a race car, we decided to fit the HP Electronik Powerbox a Power Distribution System (PDM). This unit replaces the fuse and relay system in the car. The unit is far more reliable than a fuse and relay system as it constantly monitors the car’s power consumption to ensure that each system is operating within the current limits that are set using some very understandable windows based software. If a system exceeds that limit, the PDM shuts down the channel but instead of stopping working completely like a fuse would do, the PDM retry’s the channel, in case the reason for the high current has gone away, for instance a stone blocking a fan etc and ensures that the car can carry on running reliably. The system isn’t only for race cars though, we have just fitted the unit into a classic car that came to us for a full electrical fit out. The powerbox was cleverly hidden away maintaining the classic look of the car but has allowed the owner to secure the car further with a special key start process and tracker too.
