We are organising a walking treasure hunt and quiz with hot food, desserts and raffle prizes ‪on Sunday 29th December 2019, 2pm-6:30pm‬. The walking treasure hunt will start and finish at the Royal British Legion, Newport TF10 7DP. Everyone is welcome and the treasure hunt will take place around Newport town centre and last approximately 1-1.5 hours.

This will be followed by a choice of 3 homemade hot soups with crusty bread and desserts. Then there will be a quiz for teams of up to 6 players. A raffle will be held and donations are very welcome.

The fund raiser is to aid the £150,000 appeal which has been launched to replace Newport's ageing X-Ray machine at the Cottage Care Centre. This NHS facility is made possible by the Newport League of Friends who own and maintain the unit, as well as paying for the radiographer.

Dr. Nick Tindall is the appeal's spokesman and said that the current X-Ray machine is 17 years old, isn't digital, and this is critical in modern medicine.

The Newport X-ray Unit based at the Newport Cottage Care Centre, provides NHS X-ray for many patients, meaning that patients don't have to travel all the way to one of the bigger hospitals for X-Rays. The new X-ray machine would continue to keep care closer to home which is what most patients want, offering no parking charge, no travel time, easy access and defined appointment times.
