Pass It On - Items Swap & Easy Clothing Repairs Clinic
what's happening on the day
Do you have items in your house that are used so infrequently they should be paying you rent for the space they take up? If yes, then bring them along to Sustainable Newport’s January Pass It On Event.
Clothing and accessories are the focus of Sustainable Newport’s January Pass It On Event. Research indicates we don’t wear 30% of the clothing we own. So why not clear out your cupboards and bring along clothes and accessories that you no longer wear or love on Saturday 18 January, 9:30-11:30 at the Newport Library. You might find something new that you would love to take home. At the same time, bring along clothing items that you wish to keep but that need a little TLC – perhaps sewing on a button or repairing a hem; the ladies in the clothing repair clinic will teach you how to make easy sewing repairs to bring your garment back to life. Did you know that keeping an article of clothing in use for an additional nine months can significantly reduce your clothing’s environmental impact?
You are also welcome to bring other household goods that are taking space in your cupboards - those items that are lying around the house unused and unloved, but still in great shape - to our Pass It On Event. You can bring items, take items away or you can bring and take items.
The most popular items vary with each Pass It On; this month we are encouraging clothing, shoes, handbags and accessories as our focus (no undergarments or swimwear please). Other popular household items include books, toys, games, stationery, household knick knacks, crockery. Any leftover items will be donated to local charity shops. Please share this post to encourage more people to come and see what a Pass It On Event is all about. Hope to see you there!
This event is Free and takes place on Saturday 18th January 2020 at the Library, High Street, Newport from 9.30am until 11.30am.
