On Saturday 12th June, Annabel Bolton of Newport & District Running Club was finally able to take part in a real-life race for the first time since the global pandemic took hold; her last race was way back on March 1st 2020.
She took herself off to Leeds to run in the Sunshine Extravaganza Half Marathon, organised by “It's Grim Up North Events”. The route was an out-and-back, along the Aire Valley canal, which she described as “so pretty and flat”, and the sun was out, making for a glorious day for a race.
In a friendly and well organised, chip timed race, Annabel came home 1 hour, 54 minutes, 56 seconds, a time which she was very happy with. She praised the great atmosphere on the day, and enjoyed an amazing array of cake at the end.
