Motor-Racing Star

at Adams’

A motor-racing star of the future has

joined Newport’s Adams’ Grammar

School. 11 year-old Ross Turner has

ambitions to be a MotoGP rider.

Ross started riding motorcycles at the age of 2 and

by his 5th birthday he’d decided he wanted to be a

motorcycle racer. After crafting his skills in the British

Minimoto and British Mini GP championships Ross

made the move to the Moto4 World Championships

in 2014.

Ross says: “I remember watching a minimoto race

when I was five and it was then that I decided I really

wanted to be a motorcycle racer. I have to keep really

fit for the sport and so I cycle around 5 miles every

day as well as boxing training twice a week.”

Ross’ father Simon Turner, who helps organise his

son’s busy schedule commented: “The future is

looking bright; Ross now has full sponsorship for all

his rider equipment through Feridax.”

Headmaster Gary Hickey commented: “We’re very

pleased to have Ross at Adams’. He has already shown

great commitment and dedication to his sport and to

his academic studies and we’re really looking forward

to watching his progress in the next couple of years.

Having spoken at length to Ross and his father it is

clear to me that racing at the level Ross does requires

hard-work and study off the bike as well as good

communication skills to enable him to explain how

the bike feels to his mechanics.”
