When Simon Le Bon and co first caught the
imagination of the record-buying public back in the
early 1980s, few could have envisaged that three-
and-a-half decades later the boys from Brum would
still be going.
Indeed, the band has seen its line-up alter on a
number of occasions since the New Romantic
heyday, but the core of Le Bon and Nick Rhodes has
remained a constant.
On the latest album, Paper Gods, Duran Duran has
produced one of its strongest recordings in years.
John and Roger Taylor, along with aforementioned Le
Bon and Rhodes have enlisted some scintillating help
fromgreat music producers Mr Hudson, Josh Blair and
Mark Ronson. But, their longtime collaborator Nile
Rodgers is the man who adds the funky backdrop to
this upbeat return.
Indeed, the lead single from the album is typical
of Rodgers’ knack in bringing the best out of an
established act. Pressure Off, featuring Janelle Monae,
is a great advertisement for the band that brought
you Rio, Notorious and Save A Prayer.
The Wildboys are truly back, touring November and
December. Go along and jointhe Union Of The Snake.
