Artistic message for
world peace
A painting by an 11-year-old
Stafford schoolboy which delivers
a plea for world peace has won the
backing of Gnosall Lions Club.
In the wake of the recent Paris terror attacks, the local
organiser of an international art competition believes
adults should take note of Siddhant Gupta’s vision of
peace.
The Stafford Grammar School pupil is among 350,000
youngsters around the globe to have taken part in
the annual
Lions International Peace Poster Contest
.
Siddhant’s painting depicting doves, a rainbow,
Buddha and a symbolic handshake captured the
imagination of members of Gnosall Lions, who
sponsored the local stage of the competition.
“In light of recent tragic events in France, the posters
which the children have produced are especially
poignant,” said Lions’ regional youth officer and
Gnosall branch secretary Rick Talbot.
This year’s theme of ‘share peace’ was aimed at
encouraging young artists from nearly 100 countries
to express their culture and life experiences. The best
posters advance through local, district and regional
levels, until they reach the international final.
Siddhant won the local stage with his work entitled
‘Peace with everyone in the world,’ while 11-year-
old fellow Stafford Grammar pupil Lauren Barnett
clinched the runner-up slot.
Eleven-year-old Stafford Grammar School pupils Lauren
Barnett and Siddhant Gupta impressed Gnosall Lions Club
members with their visions of world peace.
