CookBook: BBQ Recipes
Free for Android
This free app comes with inspirational ideas for the barbecue chef in your household.
The 100 diverse recipes are sent to us by our chums in the USA. Because of this, some of
the branded ingredients might be unrecognisable, but it can’t be too difficult to substitute
one soy sauce for another, or even to find an alternative to the type of blueberry yoghurt listed. Always so
specific our American cousins. This has to be one of the unfussiest and easy to use apps we have reviewed. It
is a simple list from 1 to 100, alphabetised rather than savoury to sweet.
Click on the recipe you want to know more about and see a picture of how it should turn out, nutritional
guide, cooking and preparation times. Of course there is a list of ingredients and directions too.
Simple, yet
effective. Happy barbecuing everyone.
iFish4Chips
Free for Android, iPhone and iPad
Put together in conjunction with the National Federation of Fish Friers, this helpful little
app is brilliant for guiding you to the best chippy in the area. It is great for when you are
at home, but even better when holidaying in the UK. I have happened upon a couple of
cracking chip shops on my travels over the years, with this app confirming what I already thought of them.
But now, you don’t have to take a chance, as the federation has listed the very best throughout the UK,
letting you know exactly where to get your hands on the best quality cod, chips and more besides.
The app even gives guidance on specific requirements, such as gluten free options for those with an
intolerance. This can be especially important for coeliacs and for those with severe reactions to certain
ingredients.
Try this app and you’ll be frying through the air with joy.
Ice Cream
Free for Android
Trips to the seaside, theme park or even just into town, are always made better with an ice
cream at this time of year. And we aren’t talking just about a simple Mr Whippy. How about
something more gorgeous? Fabulous flavours in crispy cones with tempting toppings. Ooh
yummy. The game Ice Cream puts you behind the counter, serving hungry customers with an increasingly
demanding array of flavours and toppings. It is ludicrously simple, yet oh so addictive. Start with training,
learning how to construct the perfect treat.
From cone, to ice cream flavour and topping - you must get the orders right. Successfully feeding the
queue adds more flavours and toppings, leading to more complex orders. Begin with vanilla and chocolate
flavoursand soon you will be dishing out mint choc chip too.
Great summer fun.
