what's happening on the day

Each year thousands of people flock to Newport Town to watch the carnival and parade, There are a variety of shows, music and activities throughout the day, there's something for everyone whatever your age! 

This year's theme is TV & Toons.

There will be more than 60 stalls with food, drink, gifts, crafts and fun. The Carnival King and Queen will be crowned on stage at 11.15am.

The event opens at 10am. Procession leaves 12noon from Audley Avenue before proceeding along Avenue Road and into High Street and down Lower Bar.

This year there are some brand new floats, plus some amazing vintage vehicles and some incredible custom motorbikes joining the Carnival

Crowds of people line the High Street. This will be the 7th year the carnival will be held in the heart of Newport on the High Street for the duration of the day. A wonderful family day out and it’s free. 

Great News: The awesome Callum Doignie (@callumdoigniemusic), finalist from The Voice UK, will be headlining the main stage on Saturday 8th June!
Also performing on the day will be Supernova - Oasis Tribute Band, The Manhattans, Shaine - Singer and Philippa Wood Fire Performer.

Some of our fantastic local dance and musical theatre groups will be opening the event, with URBAN OUT Steppers, @newportmusicaltheatreacademy and Stephaneta school of Dancing Cannock and Newport between 10am and 10.45am.
