Indoor Market Joins Love Your Local Market Campaign

Author | 24 May 2024

As towns across the UK seek ways to revitalize their high streets, Newport Indoor Market is proud to participate in the Love Your Local Market Campaign.

This national initiative, running from May 17th to June 1st, 2024, celebrates the vital role markets play in our communities.

Organized by the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA), the Love Your Local Market campaign has grown into a global phenomenon. Now in its 13th year, it's embraced by 24 countries worldwide!

Our historic Newport Indoor Market is thrilled to be part of this movement, showcasing the unique energy and variety that defines Shropshire's market scene.

The campaign estimates that over 15,000 individuals have been introduced to market trading through this initiative, leading to the creation of at least 1,500 new businesses.

This year's theme, "Celebrating Local Markets," perfectly aligns with the vision of NABMA and the World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM). Markets across the UK are gearing up for exciting events, special offers, and engaging initiatives.

David Preston, NABMA Chief Executive, Shares His Enthusiasm

"From its humble beginnings, Love Your Local Market has become a global celebration," says David Preston. "It unites communities and fosters connections all over the world."

He emphasizes the social importance of markets, highlighting the thousands of events planned within participating markets this year. The campaign aims to:

As Love Your Local Market aims to capture the hearts of consumers, it also reminds us of the critical role markets play in our communities.
