The Stag & Scotch' is an intimate Micropub centrally located at 71 High Street in the beautiful town of Newport Shropshire.

The Stag & Scotch was launched late in 2024 by myself, I used to run a nearby brewery pub, after 7 years of running the pub I handed my notice in following a tough couple of years during the Covid days, after a couple of years dusting myself down, launching an events business, creating the Waters Edge Festival and Racked & Tapped Beer Festivals I still had a scratch to itch in the pub trade, wanting to provide somewhere in town that offered a superb drinks choice, something for the distinguished real ale drinker, a selection of cask ales that were not tied to a brewco, ultimately giving our drinkers choice .... Great tasting and interesting Cask Ales personally selected and hand finished by myself in our small cellar below 'The Stag & Scotch'

We often get asked why we have called our little place 'The Stag & Scotch', well, over 50 years ago my Grandparents ran the Stag Inn, in Tibberton, my Mum was brought up in that pub and my Mum, Dad and Grandparents had many good times and the pub had a great reputation. The Scotch part is simply that I enjoy a whisky now and again..... So in general the naming of our little cosy high street micropub is a doff of my cap to the past and to the people that have supported me in everything that I do, as crazy as most of my ideas are, they have always been there for me.... So this is a little nod to my late Grandparents and Parents .... x

A selection of amazing real ales, craft and keg beers, great cider, gin, spirits, wine, soft drinks and of course the must have malt whisky shelf for those winter nights where only a whisky will do!

So here we are .... when we say 'micro pub' we really do mean 'micro'.... Get in nice and early and secure your seat, as once we have 40 odd people in we are full.....

An amazing yet relaxed atmosphere, serving superb drinks to nice people, those that appreciate quality surroundings, quality people and quality drinks... No gaming machines, no loud music, no TV's, no phones where possible, just good old fashioned chat and laughs with friends both old, new and yet to be met!!

Dogs welcome, but paws only on the floors!
