Newport Food Frenzy 2017

Event Date(s): 23 September 2017

This September, Newport is hosting its first ever Food Frenzy. Whether it’s making food, selling food or simply tasting food, this is sure to be an event you’ll want to be a part of.

The event takes places on Saturday 23th September and features a variety of artisan producers from across the West Midlands. Starting at St Mary’s Street leading down to Lower Bar there are currently over 40 stands bringing a variety of produce. From local meats to wood fire pizza there are several things to get those taste buds tangling.

As well as stalls there is also a chance for budding chefs to get cooking. For all those next generation Gordon Ramsay’s there will be a chance to cook a dish on stage and be judged by professionals. Or if you’re more of a future Mary Berry there is the chance to enter the junior and adult bake off competitions. No matter what you’re ability there is plenty to get involved in. Entry forms can be found on the Newport Food Frenzy Facebook page or from The Cook Shop in Newport. All entries must be submitted by Friday 16th September.

There will also be a food theatre on the front lawn of the grammar school featuring cooking demonstrations and talks from local entrepreneurs, including Professor Ralph Early who will be sharing his thoughts on the ‘future of food.’

Organised by a team of volunteers from Newport Town Team the event is in collaboration with local businesses and has been PART through Telford & Wrekin Councils Pride in your High Street as well as several local sponsors, including Five Ways insurance and Waitrose & Edgmond foods.

Local eateries are bringing out all the stops for the occasion and throughout the day will be hosting their own events. Among them are Aunt Sal’s on Stafford Street who will be offering a ‘BIG BREAKFAST’, Caribbean Food at The Barley, afternoon tea at Harts Tea Room and The Orchard restaurant, who will be providing wine tasting and canapes alongside their menu.
