A new apprentice is taking her first steps on the career ladder thanks to a Shropshire insurance broker.
Olivia Morton (aged 16) has joined the team at Henshalls Insurance Brokers in her home town of Newport and it’s her very first job.
After leaving Burton Borough School, Olivia applied to the firm for an apprenticeship and she has now been appointed as the newest member of the team.
Director Mark Freeman said: “We’re delighted to welcome Olivia to the Henshalls team, particularly as she’s a local girl and we pride ourselves on giving local people the opportunity to develop their careers.
“We’ll be helping Olivia to learn more about the industry and to work towards a Level Three qualification in Insurance with the Chartered Insurance Institute.
“This will give her credits towards a professional qualification, and with our support, her aim is to eventually reach advanced diploma level.
“Our experienced advisers are always happy to share their knowledge with new employees and to help them build a career in this industry, and we’re sure that Olivia will fit in very well.”
Mark said Olivia’s appointment came after a countywide search for new talent which generated a huge response from applicants of an extremely high standard.
“Olivia has already shown great potential and commitment to her new role, and we’ll be working with her to ensure her apprenticeship runs smoothly and successfully.”
Olivia said she’d chosen to apply to Henshalls for an apprenticeship as the firm had an excellent reputation in the local area.
“Henshalls is renowned for being a forward-thinking and successful business, and I’m very proud to have joined a team where everyone has made me feel so welcome in such a short time.”
