The 100th Anniversary of the start of World War One is on August 4th, 2014, which took the lives of over 37 million military and civilian casualties, with a further 16 million deaths and 20 million wounded. The Real Poppy Campaign would like to commemorate and acknowledge this huge sacrifice by covering the UK with poppies during August 2014.
They hope to encourage people in the UK to plant real Flanders poppies, so they appear in every garden, hedgerow, field and window box across the nation. Let's get Newport blooming on August 4th, by planting red poppies in and around the town.
