Council launches campaign to keep A&E at the Princess Royal

Telford & Wrekin Council is set to launch a campaign to keep a full 24 hour accident and emergency service at the Princess Royal Hospital.

The campaign – supported by the attached image - will begin with a motion to the next full Telford & Wrekin Council meeting on Thursday September 12.

The motion will read: “This council is committed to campaigning for the retention of a full 24 hour accident and emergency service at the Princess Royal Hospital.”

The whole issue of accident and emergency provision at Shropshire’s hospitals has recently been catapulted into the media spotlight as question marks have been raised over what future provision will look like.

Telford & Wrekin Council leader Councillor Kuldip Sahota said: “This is a line in the sand. As far as we are concerned, there needs to be a full accident and emergency provision at the Princess Royal.

“I hope and expect that this motion will receive full cross party support, as similar campaigns to protect our vital services have done in the past.
