All About Newport Ltd and three students/Entrepreneurs from Adams’ Grammar School have formed a startup partnership business called MyLocality. Karen said “We are all passionate about the business and believe Newport, Shropshire is a great market town with plenty to offer local residents and visitors. Every day living costs are affecting us all. With this exclusive local discount card we are trying to encourage and promote local shopping in Newport. This will save the card holder money while supporting local independent businesses and the town that supports and provides services for us”. This has to be good news for everyone”.
Where Newport really excels is in the unique High Street shops offering something just a little different to the larger department stores. Small independent local businesses give consumers greater choice and contribute to the character of an area.
The three students from Adams’ Grammar School are Scott Fawkes, Prasanna Sivakumar and James Egleston. Earlier this year they introduced their own Aspire Discount card as part of the Young Enterprise Scheme.
Mr Fawkes said, “The Aspire cards came to an end in July. Karen contacted us and said that she was looking at doing something similar and she was interested at getting us involved. Scott added that “we were more than happy to join up.Our experienced in the field meant we have been able to offer advice and guidance. This new card is certainly more professional. We are also involved on the selling side of things.”
The MyLocality discount card is a new and exclusive card that unlocks discounts in Newport, Shropshire only. This card will offer savings for local residents and visitors to Newport from food and drink, fashion, gifts and health to motoring and insurance. There are over 20 local businesses already participating and others waiting to join.
The cards are available online at www.mylocality.me/buy at a cost of £10 for 1year, £18 for 2years and £24 for 3 years.
A mobile app has also been developed so that card holders can scan their cards and quickly see what discounts are available as well as all the retailer details and the exact location on a Google map.
