Members of Telford and Wrekin Council's planning committee unanimously decided last night (2 July) to approve Aldi's application to provide a quality discount food store at Audley Avenue, Newport on the site of the former Focus DIY store.
A spokesman for Aldi said, "We are very pleased that members decided to approve our application for a new Aldi food store in Newport." He continued, "Aldi would like to thank the community of Newport for their overwhelming support which was recognised by members at the meeting. Aldi will start work on site as soon as possible with the aim of opening the store in Spring 2015."
