We were fortunate Tuesday evening to be able to present to our outgoing President Eric Carter, a small memento of his long service to Newport.
This was done jointly with the Newport Chamber of Commerce. Eric has been a very longstanding servant to Newport as a Borough Councillor, Chair of the Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Newport Regeneration partnership and Newport Town Councillor.
I'd like to thank our Secretary Ola for sourcing the inscribed (Regeneration Partnership on one side, Chamber of Commerce the other) pewter tankard we presented to Eric last night. Ola organised the event with her customary efficiency.
I'd also like to thank the members of both the Chamber and Partnership who attended, including the Chair of the Newport Chamber Karen Woodcock, together with Eric's ex colleague Cllr Andrew Eade.
I hope and feel we recognized Eric's long contribution to Newport with dignity and respect.
