Chefs Face Off at the Newport Food Frenzy

Author | 12 September 2025

The Newport Food Frenzy promises a feast for the senses, but this year, it’s also serving up a battle of culinary wits! In a highly anticipated event, two of Newport’s own local businesses are stepping out of their usual roles and into the spotlight for a friendly but fierce cook-off.

On the front lawn of the historic Haberdashers' Adams' School, our main cookery theatre will become the stage for a showdown between two well-known local faces. In one corner, we have the baking genius himself, Dan Smith from The Pastry Box. Dan, a master of all things sweet and savory, will be showcasing the skills that have made his shop a local favorite.

Facing off against him is Luke Taylor from Clarkes Solicitors. While his day job involves navigating legal complexities, Luke is ready to prove his mettle in the kitchen, demonstrating that his talents extend far beyond the courtroom.

The suspense is building! What will they be cooking? What secret ingredients will they use? And who will emerge victorious? This is your chance to cheer on your favorite local personality in a fun and exciting competition. The energy will be high, the aromas will be amazing, and the community spirit will be stronger than ever.

So, as you explore the Foody Frenzy Stalls and sample the incredible food and drink, make sure to find a spot at the cookery theatre and cheer on your champion! Who will you be rooting for?
