On Saturday, members of the Newport Salop Rugby Club Ladies team, joined by their children, swapped rugby balls for bin bags as they took to the streets for a community litter pick around Newport.
Armed with gloves, litter pickers, and plenty of team spirit, the group spent the morning collecting litter from the high street, local parks, paths, and public spaces. Their efforts left the area looking cleaner, brighter, and ready to be enjoyed by all.
Here is what Aimée Hartshorne from the team said, “We’re proud to represent our club both on and off the pitch. Giving back to our community is really important to us. It’s great to get the kids involved too!”
The initiative is part of the team’s ongoing commitment to supporting local causes and promoting pride in the Newport community. Residents expressed their appreciation for the group’s hard work and positive example.
A true team effort, proving that community spirit is just as strong as rugby spirit in Newport!
