As Dementia Awareness Week approaches, Newport Cottage Care is delighted to announce the arrival of a brand-new, fully accessible minibus, generously funded by the Newport League of Friends. The new vehicle will play a vital role in safely transporting elderly clients and those living with dementia to and from the charity’s day care facility, helping ensure continued access to essential support, companionship, and enriching activities.
The previous minibus had served the community faithfully for many years but had reached the end of its lifespan. Its replacement marks a significant upgrade not only in reliability, but also in accessibility, comfort, and independence for clients.
Designed with users’ needs at the forefront, the new minibus represents a major step forward in accessibility. Many clients will now be able to board and disembark more easily and with greater dignity, often without requiring assistance. This increased independence is expected to boost confidence and overall wellbeing among those who rely on the service.
The vehicle also features a refreshed version of Newport Cottage Care’s familiar livery, giving it a modern new look that reflects the charity’s continued growth and commitment to high-quality care, while still maintaining its recognisable identity within the community.
“For many of our clients, this bus is far more than just transport. It is their connection to friendship, activities, support, and routine. Being able to attend our day care sessions can make an enormous difference to wellbeing and quality of life, particularly for people living with dementia and their families.” Said Vicki Brassington, Newport Cottage Cares Day Care Manager.
The organisation also expressed its heartfelt thanks to the Newport League of Friends for their generous and continued support.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Newport League of Friends for making this possible. Their support has made a real and lasting difference.”
Alongside the launch of the new minibus, Newport Cottage Care is also excited to announce the introduction of its brand new charity lottery initiative. Tickets cost just £1 per week, giving players the chance to win a weekly jackpot of £25,000.
The lottery has been launched as an additional way for the local community to support the charity’s vital work, helping to fund services, activities, transport, and future improvements for elderly people and those living with dementia.
Further details about the charity lottery are available via Newport Cottage Care’s website.
